Never Forgotten

Never Forgotten is a story of mine that I have been writing since 2006. It is set in 16th century England. It is my first novel that I am attempting to write, and it has so far gotten good reviews from all who have begun reading it.
It is the story of what happens when a fever comes through the small village of Etton killing the betrothed of the future King of England. In order to become King he must choose another to take her place, and with the help of his brother, the young Jessica Calton, is the next chosen one. Despite her most desperate pleas, her mother accepts the proposal for her and begins to plan for the wedding. Jessica runs away and stows away on what is later discovered to be a thieves' ship and after months of being on the sea with the fearsome crew, Jessica has at last found the happiness she has longed for in the rugged captain of the vessel. Through many trials, the young couple try their hardest to keep their love from being separated, and to allow it to forever remain a love that is never forgotten.

Excerpt:
Jessica awoke sometime later to Rolan sleeping soundly at her side. She smiled as she moved a small lock of hair from his face. He stirred lightly and opened his eyes smiling as he looked at his one love.
"I am happy to be in your arms once more. I thank the heavens that Lord Dashall is away so often my Love," Jessica said smiling back. Rolan's smile faded as he raised himself up on his elbow.
"If not for me, would you have him?" he asked, his tone serious. Jessica looked confused and Rolan continued, "Had you and I not found one another as we did, would you be happy with him?"
"I am happy with him now. He is a kind man, I cannot hate him for that, but still, I do not love him as I love you. If I was to have only him, I would be happy, but I would not know love."

I must admit this is one of my favorites of the ideas I have had. The idea of the love Rolan and Jessica share is something I, myself, hope to someday find. It's just true and passionate, I love them.
